Stefania E. Grotti is currently the elected Chair of the Vision2020 Advisory Board. Stefania has over twenty years of experience in the field of project management and administrative support, including fifteen in academia, specifically at the Politecnico di Milano, where she is Head Manager of the Research Office. Over the years, Stefania has developed strong leadership skills which have enabled her to build a solid record of success in guiding her team to meet its objectives. Stefania has contributed significantly towards maintaining the Politecnico’s outstanding record of success in research fundraising (particularly from EU calls).
Darko Fercej, Director, E-Institute, Institute for Comprehensive Development Solutions, e-Zavod, Slovenia
Darko Ferčej finished a degree in Policy Analysis and a Masters in Environmental Sciences and is currently employed as director at the E-Institute in Slovenia. He has 14 years of experiences in international project management and 10 years as executive director of E-Institute team. He is a skilled international project manager, open innovation expert, and is working on multidisciplinary sustainable development issues. He has been coordinator of 5 EU-funded international projects and has participated as partner in more than 30 EU and internationally funded projects, financed from 10 different programmes including Horizon 2020 and FP7.
Daniela Amadio, Senior EU Research Contracts Associate, King's College London, UK
Daniela Amadio works as Senior EU Contracts Associate at King’s College London (KCL) to increase the amount of research funding the University attracts from European Commission’s funding frameworks. She leads on advising young researchers, academics and PhD students on how to prepare successful applications as well as liaising with peer institutions and partners worldwide for the development of partnering consortia. She is also in charge of preparing budgets and making sure they comply with the financial guidelines of sponsors. Daniela leads on research contracts too: drafting and negotiating research collaboration agreements, confidentiality and consortia agreements, and is responsible for protecting the IP of KCL in EC funded projects.
Javier Lopez, European Office Director, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain
Javier Lopez has more than 25 years’ experience participating in European Research Projects in different private and public organisations in the ICT sector. He has participated in building and writing collaborative proposals, mainly for the European Framework Programs, and participated in the development of many projects and coordinating some of them. He also has been appointed regularly by the European Commission as reviewer of projects and evaluator of proposals, therefore he has a complete knowledge of the whole life cycle of European R&D projects. Since the beginning of FP7 he has worked for the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), leader of Spanish Universities in the Framework Program, where he created and managed the UPM European Project Office, giving support to UPM researchers in their participation in FP calls.
Maryam Atakhorrami, Head of Business Intelligence and Innovation, Translational Research Office, University College London, UK
Maryam leads the Business Intelligence and Innovation Group in University College London’s Translational Research Office. She works with key stakeholders to identify, create and manage academic-led industrial collaborations, enabling the translation of UCL’s biomedical sciences for health care benefits. Maryam has over 10 years of experience in science-based business development. She has lead a breath of industry-academia partnership portfolio from pre-competitive open innovation to competitive R&D contract research and consulting. She has a strong multi-disciplinary scientific track record in basics and translational research, specialised in diagnostic, medical technologies and digital health.
Jana Kunická, Head of the University Centre for International Projects, Matej Bel University, Slovakia
Jana Kunická is Head of the University Centre for International Projects (UCMP) of Matej Bel University Banská Bystrica (UMB), Slovak Republic. UCMP provides comprehensive services in the preparation and implementation of international projects in the area of science, research and education. Jana is responsible for the overall direction and management of UCMP, which involves the oversight and delivery of project proposal preparation and writing, and project and financial management. She is also UMB´s representative to the Vision2020: The Horizon Network.
